It's really hot in Chicago right now, but hey work still needs to be done, after speaking with my hosting teacher, and other professional regarding the topics I selected to write about was very interesting. I gained a lot of insight about Funding, Parental Involvement, and the demographic of school. I need your educated opinion about what you think about the topics I selected.
How do you feel about the funding for Early Childhood Education?
How can we place a greater demand on parental involvement?
Should we make it mandatory for parents to be involved in their child education?
How does the demographic of school affect Early Childhood Education?

I think that parent involvment should be encouraged. Parents should play a role in their child's education and development. When I worked for Head Start we depended of parents to volunteer in our program because it helped us with our funding. We never could reach the amount of volunteer time we needed. Some many different efforts were tried to increase our volunteer time. I use to have a sign up sheet for parents to even take things home with them to help me do. Some parents were willing and some weren't. I think that over the years family structure and dynamics have changed which has led it harder for parents to volunteer in the classrooms. I look forward to reading your paper and ways that can be suggested for parents to volunteer.
I also like the idea of parental involvement. I think that we need to find ways to get parents more involved in the early childhood setting. I think that one way that staff can get parents moer involved is having the parents help make goals for their child, provide them with learning activities to support the child learning and achieving that goal at home. Also since the cost of daycare and having enough money to do activities or to get subs I think we should find ways for parents to be involved in these activities to enrich the types of things and activities we can do with the children to support their learning on all levels. Plus having the parents involved we get to incorporate their culture more in the classroom setting, build better relationships with them, and to observe the interaction with their child.
I am a mom who works full time. I would love to be more involved with my kids classrooms. It's frustrating when the only opportunities involve coming into the classroom. I am going to try to read a story next year and videotape it and email it to my kid's teachers. I wonder if other working moms would like that idea!
